ADHD Assessments

A path to effective support and tailored interventions for individuals with ADHD.

How it Works

Comprehensive assessments for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are essential for developing effective support systems and improving the quality of life for those affected by the condition. These assessments help differentiate ADHD from other conditions with similar symptoms, ensuring appropriate treatment. They provide insights into a person's cognitive strengths and weaknesses, guiding tailored interventions, which can lead to better academic, social, and emotional outcomes. Additionally, understanding ADHD can foster self-awareness and coping strategies, empowering individuals to manage their symptoms effectively.

Synergy Counseling Associates provides thorough evaluations where clients receive feedback regardless of whether an ADHD diagnosis is warranted. Unlike online assessments, our ADHD evaluations take 3-5 hours to complete and involve several in-person appointments with the evaluator. Before these appointments, you will be asked to upload or send copies of relevant medical/educational records (e.g., IEP/504 Plans; previous psychological testing; medical records; report cards/transcripts).

ADHD Testing Process

Step #1: Intake

During this 1-2 hour appointment, the evaluator will complete an interview with you to obtain information about your development, behavioral health and medical history, family history, educational/therapeutic history, and current concerns. To get a better understanding of your strengths and needs, the evaluator will ask you about your performance and behavior in various aspects of your life, such as at home, school/college, work, social situations, and other settings.

Step #2: Evaluation

During this 3-4 hour appointment,* the evaluator will complete an extensive structured diagnostic interview with you. During the interview, the provider will ask a series of questions related to ADHD symptoms, delving into your history, including childhood experiences, academic performance, employment history, and relationships.

The evaluator may suggest speaking with a collateral contact if additional data is required to complete the evaluation.

*This appointment will be divided into 50-minute sessions, with 10-minute breaks in-between.

Step #3: Feedback

This follow-up visit is typically scheduled about two weeks after your evaluation. During this 50-minute appointment, the evaluator will thoroughly review the results with you. They will discuss recommendations to ensure you are on the right path towards maximizing your strengths and accessing supports that enhance your quality of life. Additionally, this session will provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions and clarify any concerns.

Evaluation Costs

Currently, Synergy Counseling Associates is in-network with the several insurance carriers. For in-network plans, your insurance will cover part of the evaluation cost. Before scheduling your first visit, our Billing Manager will review your insurance benefits for an ADHD evaluation and advise you of any costs you may incur.

Clients with other insurance will be considered out-of-network and eligible for self-pay evaluations. The cost of a full ADHD evaluation for out-of-network clients is $1,200. Payment is due at the time of each service as follows: $400 for the intake interview, $600 for the 3-hour evaluation, and $200 for the feedback appointment.
